The spa design for the 5-star Alanda Hotel in Marbella was conceived as a continuous wellness experience, where water, temperature, materials and lighting define a series of environments dedicated to wellbeing and recovery.
The experience is centred around a hydrotherapy pool, equipped with water jets and hydromassage loungers to combine relaxation with water-based therapy. Surrounding it are a series of thermal experiences: a dry sauna, a hammam or steam room and a cold plunge, creating a circuit based on temperature contrast.
The concept also incorporates a sensory shower, integrated into the wellness journey as a complementary water experience, together with a dedicated relaxation and recovery area, designed to provide moments of rest between the different stages of the circuit.
From an architectural perspective, the design connects all areas through a consistent visual language. Indirect lighting defines circulation routes, steps and architectural volumes; timber brings warmth to the more intimate spaces, while vegetation and mineral finishes introduce natural elements throughout the interior.
The layout, materials and lighting were developed through 3D design and visualisation, making it possible to anticipate both the relationship between the different spaces and the final atmosphere of the spa before construction.
The completed wellness project brings this concept of Architecture of Water and Wellness to life, with each element contributing to an integrated experience: a space designed to alternate hydrotherapy, heat, cold and relaxation within a seamless wellness journey.
